Boat Storage Prep For Owners in St. Louis

Boat Storage Prep For Owners in St. Louis Hello again, Craig from Jax Wax St. Louis with your tip of the week. This week, we are talking about the importance of getting your boat, and the rest of your summer toys, ready for winter before you put them away. And here’s something a lot of folks don’t realize about us. We are not just an auto detail supply store. We also carry the Cap’n Jax marine line which is specifically formulated for boats, jet skis, side-by-sides, motorcycles, and RVs, too. Whatever you’re storing, the idea is the same. Summer grime left on a boat or machine all winter turns into stains, oxidation, and mildew by spring. A little time now means a lot less work when the weather warms up. Start with a good wash. Our Cap’n Jax Boat Wash is a pH-neutral, highly concentrated soap made for boats and RVs. It clings to the surface, rinses clean, and it’s marine safe. Put about 3 to 5 ounces in a foam gun or bucket, rinse with cool water first, then wash one section at a time with a clean microfiber mitt or brush. If you’ve had your boat in salt water, add our Salt Wash to the routine. It’s made to remove salt and help prevent corrosion on gel coat, vinyl, chrome, glass, railings, and even your trailer. Dry everything with a microfiber towel when you’re done. Next, give the finish some attention. If your gel coat looks dull or chalky, Cap’n Polish removes light oxidation and swirls and leaves SiO2 protection behind. For deeper scratches, Cap’n Cut is the heavier step. Not everyone needs either one, and I’m happy to tell you honestly if you do. Now protect it. Cap’n Jax Marine Detailer + removes hard water spots and adds a layer of protection to gel coat, fiberglass, chrome, glass, vinyl, and plastic, with UV protection built in. Spray it on one section at a time and wipe with a microfiber towel. If you want a quick carnauba finish instead, our Boat Wipe cleans and protects in one step and buffs to a high gloss. Then go inside, because this is where mildew shows up. Vacuum out the dirt and debris first. Our Cap’n Jax Interior Cleaner is a heavy duty vinyl and fabric cleaner that removes mildew, dirt, stains, and grime from marine vinyl and upholstery. Spray, agitate gently with a brush, and wipe with a soft microfiber cloth, and test an inconspicuous spot first. Finish the vinyl and trim with Interior Detailer +, which leaves a barrier against fading, cracking, and discoloration from UV rays. If you’re putting away a jet ski, side-by-side, motorcycle, or RV, the same routine works. Wash it, dry it, and protect it. Our Boat Wash is made for RVs, too. For paint, chrome, and metal, our Graphene Detailer or liquid carnauba wax adds protection, and Fabric Guard helps with fabric seats and tops. One last thing. Make sure everything is completely dry before you store it, and cover it with something that breathes. A boat or machine sealed up damp is asking for mildew. For the engine, fuel, and battery, check with your mechanic or marina. We’ll keep you looking good on the outside. We have been serving St. Louis for five years, and our promise is still Real Products for Real People. Thanks again from Jax Wax St. Louis. Stop in and see us at 3859 Lemay Ferry Road, or give us a call at 314-939-1130. Let us help you put your boat away right. Hello again, Craig from Jax Wax St. Louis with your tip of the week. Jax Wax St. Louis Ceramic Coatings Versus Graphene

Jax Wax St. Louis Ceramic Coatings Versus Graphene Hello this is Craig again from Jax Wax St Louis with your “Car Care Tip of the Week” Let’s talk about ceramic coatings versus graphene, because I get asked about this at the counter all the time. Here at Jax Wax St. Louis, we have been serving this community for five years, and our promise is simple: Real Products for Real People. So I’m going to give you the straight answer. A traditional ceramic coating is a good product. It bonds to your paint and creates a hard, glossy layer that protects against UV, bird droppings, bug splatter, and road grime. It is a big step up from wax. Nobody should be embarrassed about having one. But graphene is the next generation. Our Graphene Pro 10H is built on graphene oxide, and that changes the game in a few ways. First, hardness. The 10H rating is the top of the scale for coating hardness. A harder surface stands up better to the everyday wear that dulls a finish, like washing, wiping, and rubbing against dirt. Now, I won’t tell you it’s scratch proof. Nothing is. But a tougher layer on top means your paint is better protected. Second, how it handles water. Graphene coatings are known for strong water beading and sheeting. Water rolls off, and it takes dirt with it. Here in Missouri, with our hard water, summer storms, and road salt in the winter, that matters. Less water hanging around means fewer water spots, and washing your car gets easier. Third, durability. Graphene 10H gives you up to five years of protection on paint, trim, glass, and wheels. That is the kind of coating you apply once and enjoy for a long time, as long as you take care of it. And that’s the part I never skip. A coating is only as good as the prep underneath it. You wash the car, clay it, decontaminate it, and wipe it down with our Prep Spray. Then you apply it with a microsuede applicator in a crosshatch pattern, and wipe it off right at the flash. Do that right, and you get the results you’re paying for. Skip steps, and you won’t, no matter whose coating it is. Then there’s maintenance. Graphene doesn’t mean you never wash your car again. Use a good graphene shampoo like our Defend Graphene Shampoo, and keep a bottle of Graphene Detailer handy for a quick wipe between washes. That keeps the slickness and the shine going strong. Here is what I like most about it. This is professional grade product, the same kind of quality Jax Wax built its reputation on with dealerships, and you can use it yourself. You don’t need a shop or a booth. You need a free afternoon, a little patience, and someone to walk you through it. That someone is us. So if you’ve been on the fence about ceramic, or you already have one and wonder what’s next, come see us. Tell me about your car, how you drive it, and where it lives. I’ll tell you what you need, and just as importantly, what you don’t. Visit Jax Wax St Louis at 3859 Lemay Ferry Road in St. Louis or give us a call at 314-939-1130. We’d love to help you protect your ride.

Is Detailing Cars the Next Best Side Hustle? In St. Louis

Is Detailing Cars the Next Best Side Hustle? In St. Louis Is Detailing Cars the Next Best Side Hustle? Craig here from Jax Wax St Louis with your “Car Care Tip of the Week” Doesanyone really enjoy cleaning their car? Actually, a lot of people do, and they do it well. At least once a month, somebody walks into our store and says something like this: “I come in here all the time to get the good stuff for my own car. I really take pride in the work I do. Could I make some extra money detailing other people’s cars on the side?” My honest answer is, “Absolutely.” It can work, but it is real work, and I will never tell you how much you could make on the side or as a full-time gig. That is completely up to you. What I can do is help you get started with professional grade products and straight advice.. Why is everyone talking about detailing? Video after video shows a filthy car turning spotless in minutes, and it makes the work look easy and the money look even easier. The result is real, but the videos skip the practice, the pricing, and the customers who expect it done right. Detailing rewards patience, not shortcuts. After more than 40 years in the automotive world of collecting, repairing, and restoring vehicles, the last 5 of them focused on Jax Wax St. Louis, here is my “tip of the week” Do the business basics first. Before you spend your first dollar on products, tools, or equipment, Do your research. Check what licensing, insurance, and local rules apply where you work. We are a detail supply store, not your lawyer or accountant. Do your own due diligence and make sure you are covered. Start with one or two services, not ten. Pick something you enjoy and can do well in a few hours. Headlight restoration, an interior deep clean, a wheel and tire refresh, or a basic wash and wax are all good starting points. Get good at one before adding another. Build a simple starter setup. Start with a wash bucket, a rinse bucket, Grit Guard inserts, and a wash mitt. Keep a good supply of microfiber towels, separated by color for paint, glass, and wheels. Add a quality interior cleaner, glass cleaner, and wheel cleaner, plus brushes, applicators, and a foam gun or cannon if you have water access. You do not need to buy everything at once. Tell us your budget and we will help you build the list in the order you will use it. Practice on your own car first. Before you charge anyone, do the job on your car or a family member’s. You will learn how long it takes, which steps matter, and what to say to customers. Price for your time and supplies. Track how long a job takes and what products it uses, then set a fair price. Cheap is not a plan. Quality work is what brings people back. Let your work do the talking. Always take photos before and after. You can use them to advertise your work, and they can protect you if a customer claims damage or defects that were not there when the car came to you. Always ask happy customers for a Google review and a referral. Word of mouth is the best advertising. That is how a lot of good detailers got their start. I hope this sparks your interest in detailing as a side hustle or a full-time career. If you love the work, start building a following, and expect to buy regularly, ask about our Pro Account and Loyalty Programs. We offer great discounts and special sale events that are only for Pro Account Partners and Loyalty Point members. Jax Wax is the “Home of Real Car Care”.
